Architectural assistant Maxi was kicked off the Great British Bake Off while cardiovascular research assistant Syabira won Star Baker on Tuesday.
The aspiring baker, 29, fought back tears as judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith decided she would go home for pastry week.
Posting to the camera shortly afterwards, Maxi admitted she’d had a “bad week” and “knew” she was facing the chop.

She said: ‘I can’t believe it. I had a bad, bad week. I knew it. I knew it was me. I knew it was coming, but I was hoping my showstopper would have saved me.
“It’s really sad to leave but I’m happy and I’m proud to have made it this far.”
Both her fellow contestants and fans seemed shocked that she was sent home during the quarter finals.

Her co-star rushed to comfort her after the shock news.

According to the official GGBO website: “Swedish-born Maxy studied art and went on to earn a master’s degree in architecture, pausing her final studies to raise her two daughters, Tyra and Talia.
“She has done it herself in every corner of her apartment – from laying the floor and remodeling the balcony to painting the walls and hanging her own artwork.
“She started baking five years ago, with the arrival of her first daughter, and uses her strong artistic skills to create beautifully decorated party cakes.”

‘I really stepped out of my comfort zone when I applied for Bake Off, and I’m honestly so glad I did!
“Met Dame Prue, Paul, Noel and Matt and had the best time of my life. If you are thinking of applying I suggest you do as you could be here next year.
