Mel B is ENGAGED to boyfriend Rory McPhee

Spice Girl Mel B is engaged to her boyfriend of three years, Rory McPhee.

The singer, 47, has confirmed that she will marry her beau after it was speculated last month that they were planning to tie the knot.

In a new interview, Scary Spice revealed that her fellow Spice Girls have given her fiance the stamp of approval and even cried over the happy news.

Mel admitted that she really cares about her bandmates’ opinions about her other half and in the past “they’ve never liked any of my boyfriends”.

She told Hello!: ‘Emma [Bunton] cried, Mel C did. Everyone was happy for us and said, “We love Rory, he’s amazing” and they’ve all sent congratulatory cards.

‘I care about their opinions and it’s really special to me that they like Rory so much, because they’ve never liked any of my boyfriends and they’ve been pretty clear about that.

“They actually pushed me against Rory for ages before the two of us became romantic, but I would tell them, ‘It’s not like that, he’s just a really good friend who makes me feel safe.’

Rory popped the question to Mel with a £100,000 diamond ring at the luxury Cliveden House hotel in Berkshire.

According to The Sun, Mel B was “overwhelmed” when Leeds-born hairdresser Rory got down on one knee and burst into tears of joy.

The publication reports that he then held out a £100,000 ring consisting of a pear-shaped, champagne-colored diamond set on a rose gold band.

An insider told the outlet that Mel said “yes” immediately, adding: ‘But it was incredibly emotional because after everything she’s been through, it was a really big moment for her.’

Other The source told how Mel is ‘so happy’ with the engagement, adding: ‘It’s taken a huge amount for a man to get her to trust him and to believe in love again.

“He’s the complete opposite of so many of the guys she had relationships with,” explaining how he’s shown her that men can be “caring, trustworthy and reliable.”

“He’s really taken the time to understand what she’s been through. He’s madly in love with her.

The insider described Mel’s fiance as “normal, down-to-earth guy, with good morals” and insisted he is not interested in fame.

They also revealed that the pair have known each other for many years, with them both being from Leeds and Rory being best friends with Mel’s cousin, Christian Cooke.

The publication reports that Mel’s eldest daughter Phoenix, 23, was the first person she told about the engagement, with her wider friends and family said to be “over the moon”, while all of the singer’s other Spice Girls have already met “and like her husband-to-be.

Melanie Brown’s representatives declined to comment when contacted by MailOnline.

The pair are believed to have been dating since 2018 when they met through friends in LA, including celebrity makeup artist Renee Camilleri.

However, their relationship became more serious the following year when Mel returned to the UK for the Spice Girls reunion tour.

Mel shares eldest daughter Pheonix with Dutch dancer Jimmy Gulzar. Mel met Jimmy in 1998 when he was hired as a dancer for a Spice Girls world tour.

They became engaged in May 1998, she became pregnant a month later and they married in September of the same year in Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire. Their divorce was finalized in 2000.

Scary Spice Mel is also mother to middle daughter Angel Iris Murphy Brown, 15, whom she co-parents with Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy.

The former couple split in December 2006, and Mel went on to give birth to Angel in April 2007. On June 22, 2007, a court-ordered DNA test confirmed that Eddie Murphy was the child’s father.

Spice Girl Mel B also shares her youngest daughter Madison Brown Belafonte, 11, with second husband Stephen Belafonte.

Spice Girl Mel divorced Stephen in 2017, claiming he had emotionally and physically abused her during their 10-year marriage – something he has always vehemently denied.

In January, Mel was awarded an MBE for her work with domestic violence charity Women’s Aid to help other people affected by abusive relationships.

The Spice Girl was named in the New Year Honors for services to charities and vulnerable women, and she explained: “This, for me, was about them”.
