A former manager who used to work with Kanye West claims the rapper had an open “obsession” with Adolf Hitler and used to remember the “great things” he and the Nazi Party did for Germany, CNN reported.

The executive, who spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity, told the channel how West, who legally changed his name to Ye, once floated the idea of naming an album after the disgraced Nazi leader.

“He would praise Hitler by saying how incredible it was that he was able to amass so much power and would talk about all the great things he and the Nazi Party accomplished for the German people,” the individual claimed in an interview with CNN.

Earlier in the day, Ye returned to his recently restored Instagram account after being banned for sharing anti-Semitic comments earlier this month on the social media platform.

The rapper posted a series of messages overnight Thursday, dissing Endeavor CEO Ari Emmanuel and 50 Cent, among others.

He also reflected on the news that he “lost $2 billion in one day” amid the outrage over his hateful comments, writing: “The money is not who I am. The people are who I am.”

Kanye West Anti-Semitism: Was Adidas Really Founded by a Nazi?

On Tuesday, sportswear giant Adidas announced it was canceling its highly lucrative Yeezy sneaker collaboration with Ye, after the rapper and designer formerly known as Kanye West made a series of anti-Semitic comments in recent weeks.

The growing public outrage over Ye’s comments quickly came to include criticism of Adidas itself, with commentators claiming the company had not acted quickly enough to cut ties with the rapper.

“Your silence is a danger to Jews,” Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said in a statement Monday. “We cannot allow Yes’s anti-Semitism to be normalized – we must all demand that Adidas run away from hate by condemning his racist rhetoric and reassessing their partnership.”

Some argued that the company was slow to release Ye because it had Nazi origins.

The founders of the company that eventually became Adidas were in fact members of the Nazi Party Jewish Telegraphic Agency reports.

Here, Josh Marcus breaks down the story of the German sportswear company that recently cut ties with Ye over his anti-Semitic remarks.

Opinion: Kanye West’s rise is too little, too late

Kanye West is one of those people who does so many horrible, erratic things and gets embroiled in so much controversy that you automatically assume there’s some grand plan behind it that you’re just too non-famous to understand, writes columnist Ryan Coogan .

I’ve seen tweets from people who insist he’s started making anti-Semitic statements as a way to get out of his restrictive Adidas contract. I’ve seen comments from people who are convinced he blew up his reputation as some sort of 4D chess move to get out of paying alimony to his ex-wife Kim Kardashian. I’ve seen people suggest that his recent public breakdown has been part of some elaborate performance art that will culminate in the release of the greatest album ever made.

In the Instagram story and accompanying post shared on Oct. 26, West appeared to address the recent fallout with Adidas and Gap, two of the major commercial partners that have ended their business relationship with the rapper in recent weeks.
